About the Role

At Calm we are dedicated to bringing mental health content to the entire world. As such, we’re expanding our team globally and are hiring a Director, EMEA Marketing as one of our first leadership roles in-market. In this role you’ll be responsible for building the overall EMEA Marketing strategy and building the team across EMEA who will bring our brand and campaigns to life. This role will also look after the local UK country strategy. The ideal candidate will be a proven Marketing leader who has deep regional expertise and can translate global priorities to the local market as well as utilize data and local insights to develop strategic local first campaigns that drive awareness, engagement, and brand love to Calm. Along with campaign development, you’ll build a team and provide strategic advice, insights, and guidance to the entire company as it relates to building our brand and presence in EMEA. 

As one of the first executives to be hired in-market, you will also establish Calm as a destination for talented professionals and coach/guide the people we add to the team. We have a remote-first approach to working which gives you flexibility to spend time in-market with talent, agencies, and consumers. 

You will also be working closely with the Communications, Editorial, Content and Product teams and influencing Calm’s co-founders/CEOs, Management Team, and functional leaders. In addition to Marketing expertise, the ideal candidate needs to have a passion for the mental wellness and well-being space and a deep understanding of Calm’s mission in order to operate as a strategic thought partner and successfully impact our global strategy. 

You must be a strong collaborator who takes an unexpected approach to Marketing. You know how to effectively prioritize the most impactful work by leveraging your team, agencies, and consumer insights to drive awareness and, ultimately, consumer acquisition and engagement. 


  • Develop and execute regional and country level marketing strategy and planning, focused on growing the business across awareness, subscriptions and affinity 
  • Successful out-of-the-box integrated campaigns that drive earned media and conversation as well as meet set OKRs and KPIs 
  • Influence product, content and talent team decision making to drive in-market interest and growth
  • Lead and build a best in class marketing organization that can think both globally and locally  
  • Broaden the global awareness of mental wellness and Calm as its leading player
  • Develop strong cross-functional partnerships across the organization and within the EMEA core team
  • Track and report on regional and country level competitors and marketing best practices
  • Grow and build relationships with local vendors, agencies and freelancers 



  • 10+ years brand and/or marketing strategy experience 
  • Deep experience building and scaling a cross-regional, multi-disciplinary team
  • Understanding of and examples of data and insight driven campaign development
  • Experience coaching and influencing the senior-most levels of an organization - while respecting everyone at every level of the business
  • IQ/EQ balance that allows you to use data to inform your decisions and the insight to create deep connections across the business to get the job done
  • Consumer and integrated marketing expert with experience translating global campaigns locally 
  • Digital/social first thinker who understands earned first campaign development
  • Critical thinker who is entrepreneurial and comfortable with ambiguity 
  • Cross-functional leader and partner for local and global stakeholders 
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills, including public speaking in various formats
  • Proven leader, motivator, who is unafraid to roll-up sleeves and "lead from the front”
  • Passionate about mental health and mindfulness
