Director of Marketing Planning and Transformation 

Job Description Summary:

We’re looking for an experienced Director of Marketing Planning and Transformation to join our Marketing Operations organization. The ideal candidate has a strong program management background and is capable of providing critical strategic plans, prioritization, executive-level presentations, as well as budget management for our marketing leaders and teams. Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing Operations, you will partner with the office of the CMO to promote interlock with sales, product, and finance. You will help execute marketing strategy by facilitating a best-in-class marketing planning process that aligns with business objectives and develops operational budgets. Additionally, you will build the program and project management acumen of the organization through training, enablement, and skill development.

 In this role, you will provide strategic support, manage planning cycles, regular business updates to CEO and/or our board, ensure continued optimization of our marketing plans and budgets, and work with our analytics team to ensure consistent reporting of marketing activities and business impact. The ability to track and trace requirements from scope to delivery, report on progress, and guide key business conversations and decisions in support of on-time delivery while maintaining a high bar for quality is key.

The successful candidate will also be the liaison between key business stakeholders and the Marketing Operations team and as such, should have a strong technical aptitude and experience in marketing automation, CRM, and analytics tools.  

Responsibilities

  • Own and drive the annual and quarterly planning cycles by partnering with marketing teams across customer segments and regions on recurring planning, prioritization cadences, and business updates.
  • Help build and maintain the rhythm of the business dashboards, metrics and run metrics/business calls to ensure marketing is meeting goals.
  • Independently manage large scale cross-functional programs by developing detailed project plans with activity-based milestones
  • Manage top-down and bottom-up budget planning, shaping scenarios for baseline and incremental budget opportunities
  • Provide key insights and recommendations for budget optimization and investment opportunities, assessing return on marketing investment, market share potential, and other factors to drive customer growth across all geographies
  • Establish a regular operating cadence with cross-functional teams to track, communicate, and drive towards set program goals and KPIs. Identify key roadblocks to progress, and work efficiently to remove them
  • Prepare executive reports and contribute to recurring status updates, cross-functional presentations, and provide key inputs into recurring leadership updates.
  • Facilitate budget negotiations, distribution and management throughout the year with operations, finance, and marketing teams.
  • Support stakeholders with change management practices on key initiatives
  • Create and facilitate regular cross-functional internal communications
  • Develop trusted partnerships with all internal stakeholders to help build strategies and action plans
  • Develops annual department and project budgets; identifies variances and takes corrective actions as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of program management or planning experience preferred
  • 5+ years experience in a Marketing Operations / Automation Environment preferred
  • Familiarity with Marketing Automation tools, the MarTech ecosystem, and Marketing Data and Analytics
  • Detail orientated with rigor for adhering to Project Management Best Practices
  • Experience in owning and managing a backlog, defining complex technical scopes from high-level business requirements, and creating well-structured clear user stories is required
  • Experience interacting with and driving engagement with C-suite and above
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Strong business acumen
