Senior Project Manager - Corporate Marketing

Senior Project Manager - Corporate Marketing

The Corporate Marketing (CM) team is responsible for the development and production of GitHub’s global marquee programs, major internal events, video content, and operation of its signature event-space and stage at GitHub’s HQ in San Francisco (including broadcast operations). Our mission is to create stunning world-class programs and content that tell our company story, delight our customers and help Hubbers do the best work of their lives.

Historically a live event practice, the CM team is now also a sophisticated virtual broadcast producer, creating boundary-pushing multi-track programs for hundreds-of-thousands of live viewers, around the globe and across multiple digital platforms. The experiences we’ve gained creating scalable virtual preograms will be vital for continuing to extend the reach of our brand and programs as we move to hybrid events.

We’re currently searching for an experienced senior project manager to drive the successful production and coordination of these interconnected teams. The successful candidate will report directly to the VP of Corporate Marketing and work cross-functionally with the CM team, orgs across GitHub, and with vendors, contractors, agencies and partners, to manage schedules, costs, scope and quality. They will take ownership over successful project outcomes, set priorities, identify and manage risks, drive timelines, and implement high-impact process improvements.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work directly with stakeholders to understand project requests, gather requirements, define objectives, plan resources, and develop a clear and actionable project plan.
  • Create and manage corporate marketing project plans across multiple organizations (notably design, site, brand, finance, and legal teams) including milestones, resources, dependencies, budgets and retrospectives.
  • Monitor and review project progress and timelines; adjust schedules and plans as needed; and identify and resolve blockers to ensure project success.
  • Track utilization of project, budget and team resources and successfully manage against plan and budget.
  • Manage day-to-day project tracking, including status reports and updates, GitHub repo and issue management, notes distribution, follow-ups, and project assignments.
  • Management of one or two large projects or a couple of small to medium sized interrelated projects requiring complex cross-functional collaboration.
  • Document internal processes and develop and maintain project playbooks - proactively identify process gaps and implement frameworks to achieve operational scale.
  • Vendor contract RFP process, negotiation and management including coordination with GitHub procurement and finance teams.
  • Assist in the planning and production of live broadcasts, video productions, virtual, live and hybrid events.

Requirements

  • 6+ years proven project management experience across live, broadcast, and virtual events, and/or creative, video, or film production teams.
  • Hands-up event and/or broadcast production experience.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, high energy, team-oriented environment with an aptitude for managing multiple priorities.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and perform effectively under pressure.
  • Proven ability to break down complex and/or ambiguous projects into manageable tasks.
  • Success managing, logistically complex, virtual and blended event programs across time zones and geographies.
  • A track record of successfully proposing, documenting, and implementing large-scale operational changes on a team.
  • Well versed in project management tools, work breakdown structures, change management, and resource planning.
  • A strategic self-starter with an ability to devise solutions and influence buy-in for complex problems with diverse, sometimes opposing, concerns.
  • Customer obsessed. Constantly seeks out feedback and measures results to refine processes and improve the quality of output.
  • Growth mindset. Always learning something new and thrives on new challenges.
  • A positive attitude and a sense of humor.
  • Strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A deep understanding of design thinking frameworks, and a love for creative storytelling.

Preferred

  • A GitHub product user.
  • Deep understanding of the developer audience and software ecosystem.
