As SEO Program Manager you will be tasked with developing and managing a technical SEO roadmap to ensure Vox Media’s publishing tools are maximizing potential audience across search surfaces. You will be responsible for creating information using data and vendor tools to help with identifying and prioritizing opportunities for improvement and then advocating for that work across various teams within the Product organization.

What you’ll do:

  • Use your understanding of technical SEO and collaborate with Editorial-facing SEOs to create, manage, and communicate a data-informed SEO roadmap.
  • Use data to identify, communicate, and prioritize technical bugs or fixes to preserve existing search audience.
  • Use data to identify, communicate, and prioritize new Chorus/Clay features to grow search audience.
  • Employ technical SEO best practices to ensure all content published across the various Vox Media networks is discoverable, crawlable and indexable, by search engines.
  • Use data to set expectations and provide a feedback loop to stakeholders for committed Product team work.
  • Develop relationships and build trust across organizations to assist in advocating for SEO improvements to Vox Media’s suite of publishing tools.
  • Document technical SEO point-of-view, best practices, and processes as a way to scale the team’s expertise and thought leadership.
  • Educate Product stakeholders on SEO best practices via documentation, training, newsletters, Slack, and/or brown bag sessions.
  • Act as the lead SEO stakeholder on the upcoming merging of Vox Media’s two publishing platforms Chorus and Clay.
  • Act as the lead SEO stakeholder on new feature development, redesigns and refreshes, and migrations.
  • Monitor industry, algorithm, and Vox Media search trends, to identify potential impacts to search audience.
  • Monitor and manage the presence of all network sites in Google Search Console.
  • Assist with managing the presence of all network sites in Google News Publisher Center.

What you’ll bring:

  • You are passionate about digital publishing and have experience working in a fast moving, fluid editorial environment.
  • You have both technical and editorial SEO experience.
  • You are creative and persistent when it comes to advocating for resources to get SEO work done.
  • You are curious, analytical, and have experience using data to uncover and communicate opportunities for improving SEO.
  • You have experience in Google Search Console, Google Trends, Moz, STAT, and/or other SEO tools.
  • You’re able to manage multiple tracks of work at once, balancing both short-term and long-term projects simultaneously. You take initiative in starting new projects and seeing them through (individually or through collaboration).
  • You enjoy collaboration and are open to working with employees at all levels, including executive leadership.
  • You have strong written and verbal communication skills and the desire to work within a matrix organization.

Bonus points for:

  • Extensive experience in Google Analytics, Sheets, Excel, dashboarding, and working with large datasets and disparate data sources.
  • Experience people managing or leading a SEO team.
  • Past media experience.
  • Specific passion for Vox Media’s brands.
