Questions

Where does the salary data come from?

From the base salaries companies publish on full-time marketing job posts on HeyMarketers over the last 12 months, including roles that have since closed. Each post counts once at the midpoint of its range. Only annual US dollar salaries are included.

Do you store the salary I enter?

No. The comparison runs in your browser, and your salary isn't sent to HeyMarketers.

Why does it say it widened my comparison?

When there aren't enough published salaries for your exact specialty, level and location, we compare you with a broader group (for example, all levels in your specialty) and tell you which one.

I'm outside the US. Is this useful for me?

The figures are US dollar salaries, mostly from US-based and US-remote roles, so they're a benchmark for US-paying jobs. If you work remotely for US companies, it's a fair comparison. Local salaries in other countries are often lower, and contract and freelance rates vary widely.

Does this include bonus and equity?

No. Job posts publish base salary, so compare your base salary. Bonus, commission and equity are on top.
