The job
Partner marketing managers turn partnerships into pipeline and revenue. Depending on the company that means co-marketing with technology partners (joint webinars, integration launches, marketplace listings), enabling resellers and agencies to sell the product, or running an affiliate program.
The job needs both marketing skill and relationship skill. You have to find partners whose customers are your customers, agree on a plan that's worth their time, and then make it easy for them to promote you with ready-made content, campaigns and tracking.
Partner programs are often underinvested and hard to measure. The managers who do well set clear goals per partner tier, track sourced and influenced revenue properly, and focus effort on the few partners that drive most of the results.
